Stepper motor drive circuits
Stepping out...
To date, I've just seen three simple circuits for driving
unipolar
or bipolar
stepper
motors:
- Wilf Rigter's NuStepper
-- uses just a single IC ('though not one you're likely
to have in your "parts box") to give you reversible motor
drive
- Solarbotics Nv-based
Circuit-- uses a single IC (and it's a common one,
too -- the 74AC240)
to give you motor drive in a single direction
- Duane Johnson's BEAM
Stepper -- based on a single 74AC240,
gives reversible motor drive.
Then of course, if you want to cheat, ICs specifically
made to drive stepper motors are commercially available as
well.
