Nihon ("BG Micro") gearmotor detailed data
All the data that's fit to print

Manufacturer
Nihon Mini Motor Co., Ltd.

Source
Commercial salvage; focus and zoom motors in LCD projector lens assemblies from BG Micro.

Comments
These motors are only sporadically-available), but due to their high efficiency and small size are highly prized in the BEAM community. The last time they were available, they cost $10 each; the time before that, $8 each; the time before that, $4 each -- the lesson being, buy them when you can!

These have a Nihon part number of AG-M16-1960, and were custom built for Minolta. These are built to handle 3.0 - 6.0 V DC (5.0 V nominal), but in reality can handle lower voltages as well.

The picture on the right shows a complete lens assembly. Since the two motors are used in two different places, any one of these motors will come attached to one of two different mounting plates; with a little imagination, either can be used to attach your motor to a 'bot.

This page presents all the data from my testing of a single example of the Nihon gear motor sporadically available from BG Micro. The test procedure I used is described elsewhere.
