"Her Majesty's Secret Serpent" an early (Apple Computer, Inc., SIGGRAPH 1989) computer animation using physics-based rendering. The snake was animated entirely using autonomous behavior driving a physical simulation. A "must see" short if you're thinking of building a snakebot.
